Is Laser Cutting Harmful To Human Body?

With the development of science, laser cutting has been used more and more widely in life, but many people also have a question: will laser cause potential harm to human body? In particular, will large equipment such as laser cutting machine affect the health of users?
From the fundamental level, the laser cutting machine is not harmful to the human body.
Although the laser cutting machine does not cause any harm to the human body in essence, it will also cause some damage to the human body if it is used improperly:
1、 Eye damage
When workers contact the laser cutting machine, they often like to look at the cutting head. If they look at the sparks generated by cutting for a long time, they will cause eye damage and tingling. During the processing of the laser cutting machine, the laser emitted can make the energy highly concentrated, and focus on the retina through the refractive medium of the eye to form an image, so that the energy density on the retina is significantly higher than the incident energy density on the cornea. In addition, the laser has good monochromaticity, and the color difference in the fundus is small, which will cause damage to the cornea or retina.
2、 Skin damage
When the laser shines on the skin, if the energy (power) is too large, it can cause skin damage. The damage can be repaired by the tissue, and its function will decline, but it will not affect the overall functional structure. If the skin is irradiated for a long time, it may cause burns and scars.
3、 Respiratory system injury
When the laser is processing some special metal materials, the high temperature generated by the laser will combine with the gas and produce a large amount of dust. Most of these smogs contain a large number of chemical components, and the dust will also be suspended in the air, which will cause damage to the human respiratory system if accidentally inhaled.

How can we avoid the damage caused by the optical fiber laser cutting machine?
1. Necessary protective equipment for laser cutting machine shall be prepared, and protective glasses shall be worn to prevent laser damage to human eyes. Other personnel in the work area shall not look directly at the laser during cutting.
2. Operators should pay attention to eating more carrots, bean sprouts, tomatoes, lean meat, animal liver and other foods rich in vitamin AC and protein, which can better protect the eyes.
3. Corresponding dust removal device shall be equipped, and the operation shall be carried out in an air free environment as far as possible, and the respirator shall be worn.
4. When arranging the cutting site, the site and wall of the working environment should be painted dark to reduce radiation.
5. Do not touch the cut parts immediately after processing to avoid scalding by residual temperature.
6. As the laser beam is invisible, do not touch the optical path during use to avoid damage to the body.
7. There are harmful elements (ZnSe) in the focusing lens of the laser cutting machine. Do not contact the lens frequently. After the lens is scrapped, it should be treated specially. Do not throw it about.
